The Mycelium is based on the ring mod section of the Snarling Dogs Mold spore Wah. There have been a few improvements made to the circuit to make this legendary ring mod even better. If you're after some versatile ring mod tones and some freaky sweep functions the Mycelium is sure to please you. Let's take a look at the features. Freek - This control allows the user to tune the frequency from low pitched to high and isalso controllable via the expression pedal jack just below the output jack on the left side of the pedal. For best results an expression value of 50-100k is recommended. Touch - This control is a sensitivity control applied to the ring mod section of the pedal. When set on the lower settings the player can play clean notes while picking softly and when you really dig in youíll get a blend of clean and ring depending on the setting. Ring - This controls the volume of the ring modulated signal. Lower for less higher for more. Clean - This is the clean level control. This will control how loud your clean signal is when mixing it with the ring signal. Lower for less higher for more. As with most effect pedals the input is on the right side and the output is on the left. The power jack is located just below the input jack on the side of the pedal. For best results use a 2.1mm center negative regulated power supply. 100 milliamps should work just fine and if you like to use batteries the pedal will also run off of a single 9v battery. Letís take a look inside the pedal. If you look at the circuit board with it at the top you will notice two blue squares or trim pots. The top one is a noise control. I would not recommend touching this one unless you would like to add more noise to the signal. If you do adjust it, it is fairly easy to tune back in. Turn the ring & touch controls all the way up and the clean level all the way down. Now add some gain from your amp or another pedal and just turn the trimmer until the noise is at a minimum level. Below that trimmer is the gain trimmer or level trimmer. I try to set these as close to unity as possible but I do understand some of you will want to boost it or maybe even turn it down a bit. In order to get the clean level signal you would like turn the ring & touch controls all the way down. Now turn the clean level all the way up. Now you can turn the gain trimmer to your desired signal whether it be boosted or possibly a little less than unity The Mycelium is true bypass and is powered by an industry standard 2.1mm center negative power supply or 9v battery. It is also hand made from the highest quality components available today and is backed by a one year warranty.
